A little over a year ago Lakes Economic Development Association (LEDA) entered a partnership with the Village of Burns Lake and the Regional District “Area B”. We are now members of a more powerful, innovative and promising community minded organization.

Receiving funding from local government allows a security for getting to work and effectively establishing priorities and a Strategic Plan to guide us. As a non-profit society with a diverse and strong Board and community representation on our discussion groups, LEDA has a greater flexibility as well as opportunity to source outside funding for community projects.

LEDA’s vision speaks of balancing economical, environmental, cultural and social values and the importance of this in creating a sustainable & resilient community. We believe that partnerships and inclusions of all existing and new sectors of the whole community will create opportunity, build diversification, and enable collaboration - not duplication.

We will continue to support and assist the community in developing workable strategies that address and identify each sector and their marketing capabilities. We will strive to improve our community’s capacity to meet evolving economic and labour market needs.

On behalf of LEDA, I would like to thank all the discussion groups, various organizations and the community for assisting us in moving initiatives forward.
I would like to acknowledge the LEDA Board of Directors for their guidance and commitment to the future of Burns Lake and the Lakes District. I would like to thank my staff for their expertise, support and assistance.
