Doug Bysouth
Superintendent of Babine Forest Products and Decker Lake Forest Products, which are divisions of Hampton Affiliates.
“ I joined the Lakes Economic Development Association in February 2008 as a director because I believe economic development to be an essential cornerstone of a healthy and vibrant community. To be successful in my mind, economic development must be a measured process – attracting new ideas and innovations to complement existing business, community culture and the natural environment.
I have lived in the Lakes District and area for nearly 30 years, and it is a great place to grow up in, and now, for me, to raise a family.
Upon graduation from University in 1989, I returned to the Lakes District to work as a professional forester for Babine Forest Products. Since then, I have held various positions there and am currently the Forestry Superintendent of Babine Forest Products and Decker Lake Forest Products, which are divisions of Hampton Affiliates, a family owned lumber company based out of Portland, Oregon.
In addition to being a director with the Lakes Economic Development Association, I am a commissioner with the Regional District of Bulkley Nechako Advisory Planning Commission (Area B) and a director of the Bulkley Valley – Lakes District Airshed Management Society, and volunteer in various other community groups.”
