Proposal Writer - Laurie Reimer
In May 2007 LEDA established a proposal writer position as a means to increase capacity and to further support community-driven initiatives through funding research and proposal development.
As a result of this increase in capacity, LEDA has successfully assisted the community and economic sector groups, in obtaining funding for a number of projects that contribute to the vibrancy, health, and economic sustainability of the community. Examples include: Spirit Square, Community Alternative Energy, Village Entrance signage, Beautification, Fuel Mitigation activities, and Foreign Investment.
It was very busy in 2007 with funding research, proposal development and application submissions. Developing positive working relationships, with all levels of government, funding agencies, and community groups, has been a rewarding experience.
Requests for assistance with funding research or proposal development are presented to the Board of Directors for approval. If you have a project or initiative that you would like LEDA to assist with, you are encouraged to stop by the office to discuss your ideas with our friendly staff.
Through funding research and proposal development LEDA has successfully assisted local government, community groups, and non-profit organizations with a variety of community and economic development initiatives. Close to $900,000 has been brought into the Burns Lake area for the following projects and initiatives:
-
Spirit Square $422,813 (graphics of Spirit Square components)
-
Fuel Mitigation $298,650 (graphics of beetle kill stands)
-
Community Projects $48,523 (graphics for website development, energy initiatives)
-
Economic Development $108,857 (graphics related to foreign investment marketing, healthy community, employment creation and partnerships)
