Recently formed, this group, consisting of independent power producers, entrepreneurs, and interested local area residents, meets to share ideas and discuss alternative and renewable energy sources. Many of the group participants have knowledge and experience in the production of solar and wind power. The Official Community Plan (OCP) for Burns Lake will be reviewed with the group with hopes that its contents will spark ideas for additional methods of creating independent and renewable energy. |
New bioenergy technology and production capacity
to better utilize beetle damaged timber and other
woodwaste in sawmills and pulp mills;
• Agriculture biogas production from animal and food
processing wastes;
• Projects to convert municipal waste and landfill gas
to electricity and other fuels;
• Over 800 megawatts of biomass electricity capacity
is installed in British Columbia, primarily within the
forest sector - enough for 64,000 households;
• In 2007, British Columbia produced over 90,000
tonnes of wood pellets, of which 90 percent was
exported for therma power production overseas.;
