MINING: Lyn Anglin President and CEO of Geoscience BC would like to talk with the Mining Group about the possibility of organizing a geochemistry workshop like they did with TEDA in Terrace, possibly for later in the summer. And would like to get the mining groups feedback on the work that Geoscience has been doing, and any suggestions they have for future activities.
There are some overlapping with Mining and Agriculture issues so LEDA was hoping to combine both discussion groups and their guest speakers into one meeting.
AGRICULTURE: The Omineca Beetle Action Coalition (OBAC) has retained a study team led by Don Cameron Associates to facilitate the development of an Agriculture Strategy with the input of agriculture stakeholders in the OBAC region. The Agriculture Strategy is the 8th of 10 priority topic strategies being developed by OBAC.
The sector strategies provide recommendations to senior governments, local governments, the private sector, and others on how we can work together to support resilient communities in our region and build a more diverse regional economy.
Elizabeth Anderson with OBAC would like to give a presentation to the Agriculture Discussion Group on May 14th regarding the strategy. She would then be available to the group for input and questions.
Also, below is a link to an electronic survey. The purpose of the survey is to receive input from agriculture stakeholders to the development of an Agriculture Strategy for the region. If you wish to forward this message to any others who might be interested in completing the survey, please do not hesitate to do so.
