GamesTown2010
It starts with our story...
It's Coming - help Burns Lake bring home the Gold!
As you may know already, Burns Lake is a host community for the Olympic Torch on January 30th 2010. Let's help Burns Lake bring home the Gold!
There are some exciting prizes to be won by participating communities as part of GamesTown 2010. In January 2010, three BC communities will be named the Gold, Silver, and Bronze medal winners of GamesTown 2010. They will recieve cash awards of $100,000, $50,000, and $25,000, respectively, to put towards sport or healthy living facility improvements improvements in their community.
Inside every BC community there is a GamesTown spirit. Where does it shine the brightest?
The countdown to the 2010 Olympic Games has begun! 2010 wants to hear what our community and other BC communities are doing to get in the spirit. Tell us and the world how individuals and organizations in our community are making a difference in the supporting sport, healthy living, and sustainable development and of course, the Olympic Games spirit. Later this year, three BC communities will be picked as the gold, silver and bronze GamesTowns and will receive funds to put towardssports or healthy living facility improvements of their choosing. Along the way great prizes will be awarded, including tickets to the Winter Games.
Entries are free and there is no limit to the number of entries that can be submitted. People from all over the world will be looking at the site and communities. Take a look through the site to see what other communities have done similar to Burns Lake. Stories could include Mountain biking highlights, Cross country ski trails, Snowmobile trails and Coldsmoke drag races, the running club, and the Chamber of Commerce pitch-in day. Other highlights could include community spirit events and activites such as the Torch Relay and Spirit week. We need to showcase the Norht in order to attract people here.
Now it's our turn to tell OUR story the way we want!
Upload stories, photos and YouTube video clips to your own BC Community Profile page on the GamesTown2010 website, showing how our community engages the Olympic spirit and should be named GamesTown2010.
Go onto www.gamestown2010.ca and tell YOUR story!
